Cutting or cropping jigs are often used to modify injection mouldings after production. This can be to remove a part of the injection moulding that is not required on the finished product but is used on other finished products. This then removes the need for additional inserts within the tool that would require replacing depending on which version of the product was needed.
Cutting jigs are also used to modify standard bought in parts, such as medical tube, to make it bespoke to the requirements of, for instance, an over moulded product.
