Torque Testing
Torque testing is used to monitor the strength of bond usually between two parts, such as an over moulded metal component. Torque testing is used where the strength of the bond is critical when the product is in use. It is often a destructive test so therefore torque testing can only be carried out on a small number of injection moulded parts within a production run.
The usual process would be torque testing a part prior to production, in the middle of production, and at the end of production. A minimum torque value is agreed with the customer and the results and tested components are supplied with the production batch. Torque testing is carried out using a calibrated torque wrench set to the required minimum torque value.
